The California Three Strikes law is designed to put people away for the rest of their lives, and many times they don’t deserve that. I know how to stop it from happening. The important thing is not to let the judge or the jury concentrate on the individual’s criminal record, but rather to make them look at the whole picture.

By focusing on the whole individual, by getting character references from family and friends, by showing that the person is loved by their family, we give the court a reason to strike previous strikes. They do, and we are literally able to save lives. By having previous strikes struck, you don’t face a life sentence any more.

For clients facing drug charges, I’ve been able to prevent them from being sent to jail, by getting them into drug treatment programs instead. As long as they stay with their treatment, we have been able to successfully resolve those cases.
